Leech Lake Fishing Report for Feb 27, 2020

Thursday, February 27th, 2020

The 6- to 10-foot sand/weed areas are producing perch, but you better plan on sorting through some small fish. Sand Point, Battle Point, Pine Point, and Agency Bay have been some of the better spots this week. The deep breaks and humps in Walker Bay continue to kick out eelpout at night. Look to Rogers Point or Stoney Point for suspended tullibees over deep water.

Leech Lake Fishing Report for Feb 20, 2020

Thursday, February 20th, 2020

Lake conditions have improved enough that off-road truck use is now an option in many areas. The slush has diminished as well, just avoid any large drifts. The reefs on the south shore are giving up a few walleyes during the evening hours in 17 to 26 feet, as are the 25- to 30-foot humps in Walker Bay. The 12- to 15-foot breaks in Walker Bay are producing some perch during the day and a few walleyes each evening – the shallow perch bite has been slow. A few tullibees are being caught in the deep basin areas off Stoney Point and look for eelpout in 20 feet or more throughout Walker Bay.

Leech Lake Fishing Report for Feb 13, 2020

Thursday, February 13th, 2020

Walleye action continues to be best during low-light hours in 17 to 26 feet along Olson’s Reef, Rogers Point, and Big Rock Reef out of Trapper’s Landing, while anglers on snowmobiles found them on the Variety Reef and Pelican Island areas. The deeper shoreline breaks and 30- to 40-foot humps in Walker Bay are giving up some walleyes as well. Perch are being found across the lake in 6 to 10 feet – you will have to sort through some small fish, but you will find those larger fish if you stay on the move. Tullibee action has picked up on the south shore, near Roger’s Point and Big Rock Reef over 28 to 40 feet. The slush has started to freeze and anglers are moving around a bit better, but you’ll still encounter some pockets of slush.

Leech Lake Fishing Report for Feb 6, 2020

Thursday, February 6th, 2020

The snow has compacted a bit, but plowed roads remained minimal early this week. There has been some perch hitting in Shingobee Bay over 12 to 15 feet and anglers using snowmobiles are catching walleyes on the 30- to 40-humps in Walker Bay. The 12- to 15-foot reef areas on the south end are giving up a few walleyes during the evening hours as well.
