Leech Lake Fishing Report for Nov 28, 2019

Wednesday, November 27th, 2019

With the exception of a thin layer of ice around Cedar Point to the south, Walker Bay was wide open Tuesday morning – anglers were still putting boats in at the City Park Access. Portions of the main lake have some ice, but it’s also limited and thin, while the small bays have a bit more ice. There has been some people fishing the small lakes in this area where 4 to 6 inches of ice is being found.

Some bays off the main lake develop a thin layer of ice, but the wind is continually pushing it or breaking it up. The main lake is ice-free, and muskie anglers were still putting boats in Walker Bay early this week. The small lakes in this area have 4 to 7 inches of ice and anglers have been getting out on some of them.

The small lakes now have about 4 inches of ice and some anglers have started walking on a few of them. With the exception of some shoreline ice, Leech Lake was wide open Tuesday morning with steady winds preventing it from capping over.

Leech Lake Fishing Report for Nov 7, 2019

The ponds are ice-covered and some small area lakes and bays have skim ice on them as well. Although there were a handful of muskie anglers on the lake last weekend, that likely won’t be an option moving forward with cold weather expected to continue.
