Leech Lake Fishing Report for July 27, 2018

Friday, July 27th, 2018

Muskie action has improved quite a bit from last week with good reports of active fish coming out of Portage Bay, Sucker Bay, Agency Bay, and the Two Points area. Walleyes are tough to catch during the day, but you will hook a few during low-light periods with slip bobbers and leeches or spinners and crawlers off Sand Point and Cedar Point in 10 to 14 feet. Trolling crankbaits in these areas after dark also has produced some walleyes. Find the cabbage beds in most bays and you’ll catch bluegills and bass.

Leech Lake Fishing Report for July 20, 2018

Friday, July 20th, 2018

Walleye anglers are grinding out bites during the day with live bait or Jiggin’ Raps on the humps and shoreline breaks in Walker Bay or the main lake rock and weed flats. Trolling crankbaits at night in 9 to 12 feet has produced some walleyes from Sand to Cedar Point and the GrandVu Flats to Pine Point area. Hit Portage Bay and Sucker Bay for muskies, the rice in Steamboat Bay for largemouth bass, and the shallow weeds in Shingobee Bay for panfish.

Leech Lake Fishing Report for July 13, 2018

Friday, July 13th, 2018

A slip bobber and leech or live-bait rigs and crawlers are producing walleyes in the weeds of Trader’s Bay, Sucker Bay, and off Sand Point during the evening hours. The humps in Walker Bay started giving up a few more fish and some walleyes are being caught at night by trolling crankbaits from Sand Point to Cedar Point in 9 to 14 feet. Reports on the main lake have been slower, likely due to a significant mayfly hatch. The cabbage in Shingobee Bay is producing bluegills, and muskie reports have been best off the south end rocks or weeds in Portage and Sucker bays.

Leech Lake Fishing Report for July 6, 2018

Friday, July 6th, 2018

Rocks continue to produce better numbers of walleyes during the day in 15 to 20 feet. With a good wind, you’ll still pick walleyes out of the weeds and shoreline breaks in 9 to 12 feet with spinner rigs and leeches. Trolling crankbaits at night from Sand Point to Cedar Point in less than 12 feet has produced walleyes as well. Muskie reports have been better this week than last, with fish now being raised on the weedlines and shallow rock areas.
