Fall Has It All || Harvest Moon Celebration Oct 4th

Wednesday, October 1st, 2014

As we begin October we’re approaching the end of our Fall Has It All celebration. The past few weeks have been filled with various activities. The celebration kicked off on September 20th with the North Country Marathon, followed by Oktoberfest downtown featuring arts, crafts and live music. Locals and visitors alike enjoyed the beer garden, homemade soups, polish sausage and Mary Etta’s pies while enjoying live German music. The day was filled with various sales and ended with a dance at the downtown fire hall.

Other highlights from the event include the art show September 21st, a quilt show on September 25th and the 10th annual Hackensack Chainsaw Event. This event took place on September 26th and included sculpting, food, artisans booths and general family fun at the city park in Hackensack. In conjunction to the Chainsaw Event, the city hosted a successful Lumberjack Show followed by a dance at the American Legion. The third weekend of the event also hosted a second race in Walker, Classic Car Show in Hackensack and a Vintage Car Show in Remer. The Chainsaw Event concluded that Sunday, September 28th with the final Lumberjack show and a live auction of the chainsaw carvings.

This weekend we’ll see the overall event come to a close. Saturday October 4th the Harvest Moon Festival takes place near Walker at the Moondance Fairgrounds with tastes of over 50 beers & wines. The event will also host food, crafts, artists and live music all day. A family fun 5k will begin at 10:45am with the celebration beginning at 11am. Other notable events are the dog show, wiener dog races, redneck Olympics and onsite camping. Sidewalk sales will continue to take place in Remer for most of the day. A special Octoberfest menu has taken over the Pub in Remer and the Depot in town is hosting a pumpkin carving contest and bake sale. Jodi Schwen, author of “Northern Comfort: Musings of acqueline Pine Savage” will be at the Remer Centennial Library. Her book signing includes pie, coffee and hot cider.

Overall, this event has been a great time to connect with neighbors and visiting friends. Let us know in the comments which events you attended and what you enjoyed most about #FallHasItAll
