Spring has Sprung!

Monday, March 19th, 2012

Leech Lake is known for its great fishing and family resorts. Our blog will be focusing on local events, fishing and other updates, as well as different articles featuring resorts in the area so you can learn even more about our special region of Minnesota, and why it would be a great location for your next vacation.

This week, we are experiencing warmer temps and melting snow. A few people have even spotted their first robin! We are all starting to feel the excitement that spring brings. Those resorts that were closed during the winter, are starting the exciting task of spring cleaning as they prep each cabins for the happy families that will be staying in the cabins throughout the summer.

As these temps continue to rise, remember that according to DNR standards, all ice houses must be off the ice each night unless attended north of Highways 10, 34, 200 and 2 by March 19th. All of the fishermen are anxious to get their boats in the waters of Leech Lake and plan their upcoming fishing getaways.

Also in the area this week, the Minnesota Folklore Theatre presents Cinderella in Akeley, Minnesota. This is a great event for the whole family and only a short distance away.
